MVV Voting on TokenLog

The TEC continues to evolve at a breakneck pace. As mentioned in our last Praise Quant Blog Post, we are hosting a second iteration of the Mission, Vision, and Value statement development process. The importance of this process cannot be overstated as this is the first time (we know of) that the mission, vision, and values of a DAO are being proposed and decided upon by the community, before its launch. The juicy details are below, but long story short 👉 VOTE on the TEC MVVs now TokenLog

Apologies for the CTA, but did we mention…this is HUGE. Or perhaps you don’t want to participate in regenerative economy history 📖

Ethics. Vision. Values. Mission. Transparency. Community. Mash them together. Dissect them. Swirl them around. Get all academic on their arses. Just don’t ignore them.

While we could easily carry-on about our numerous tech innovations and products (and pry too often do just that), the core foundations of the TEC are built upon these cultural layers. This issue of the Praise Quant Blog peels back those layers, exposing the human skeleton supporting everything we are building. Without this, we fail.

📣 TEC Mission, Vision, and Values — VOTE NOW

The TEC Gitbook — Mission | Vision | Values

Have your say in the foundational layers of the TEC Cultural Build. We have important decisions to make, and only 24 hrs remain to submit your Mission, Vision, Values proposal and/or VOTE on existing proposals.

Voting ends April 15th at 7:55 PM CET (1:55 PM EDT) & results will be revealed on the weekly TEC Community Call on Discord (8 PM CET)

There are already 12+ MVV proposals available for Token-weighted governance using TokenLog. Participate NOW & and help us revision the TEC MVVs 👇

Voting power is determined by your Impact Hours and CSTK Score, and community members can use their voting power to vote for their favorite proposals.

** If a proposal has 50% of the total number of votes at deadline, it will be the winner. If that condition is not met, the top 3–5 submissions will have a final voting round, and the one with the most votes will win. We must take into account the possibility of votes split amongst forked proposals and other edge cases. Ultimately, the Community Stewards will choose which top voted submissions will be included in the the run-off.

Sticking with the Mission theme, check out our latest guest blog by BlockScience founder and Token Engineering thought leader Michael Zargham 👇

Engineering Ethics in Web3

In this thought provoking piece, Zargham explores the deep connections between web3 enabled systems and numerous social and economic systems in place today, and the potential for a deep and long standing impact on social institutions.

Peer into these value systems, contemplate a reconciliation of the inherent conflicts, and discover a path forward.

A trans-disciplinary CTA teaser:

“…hope is that the TEC community will be open to all who wish to take up the burden of safeguarding the public, not because a regulatory authority demands it, but because it is a role in society necessitated by the existence of technology.”

🥽 Transparency Trilogy — DAOs, Working Groups & Audits

https://medium.com/token-engineering-commons/transparency-in-daos-999b17b0ff74

As we continue our value-driven stroll through the ethics garden and mission pathways, let’s pause to focus on Transparency in the TEC. In this chock-full piece, the TEC’s own Ivy Bagay covers 3 ways the TEC intertwines transparency in all of its activities, making it a critical piece of the TEC Vision.

Transparency makes all actions performed visible…and fosters accountability and involves all members in the auditing of work being done.

To learn more about the TEC Transparency Working Group & Transparency Audit being implemented in all TEC working groups, take a deep dive into

👉 Transparency in DAOs

And for you Ostrom’s principles lovers, the Transparency WG has adopted the 4th principle as a guideline behind their actions:

Monitors, who actively audit CPR conditions and appropriator behavior, are accountable to the appropriators or are the appropriators themselves. — E. Ostrom, Governing the Commons

💎 The Praise is in! Impact Hour Leaderboard

For participation, TE Commons contributors are acknowledged via a praise bot developed by the Commons Stack and then that Praise is quantified to distribute Impact Hours. Through Telegram and Discord bots and bridges, community members dish Praise to each other to recognize work.

Impact Hours will be converted into TECH tokens at launch. The exact value of Impact Hours will depend on the parameters chosen by the community and how much is collected in the Hatch 🐣, but the intention is that each hour will be worth somewhere between $10-$200.

Congratulations on the hard work everyone and thank you for your contributions to the Token Engineering Commons! 🥳 Here is the full list of Impact Hours awarded for work from March 27 — April 9:

Period IH

Every contribution counts, and the Token Engineering Commons is incredibly grateful for its almost 300 active contributors that have earned Praise so far. 🙏 Below is a partial list of total Impact Hours to date, the full list and the math behind its calculation can be found in this spreadsheet:
