A preview of the latest Test Hatch application currently under development

It’s been another exciting two weeks full of bustling activity, innovation and developments in the Token Engineering Commons. Our community is growing rapidly, exploring and learning together, as we discuss and decide the different aspects surrounding the token launch that will affect how we covest and fund Token Engineering projects with our shared resources.

🗳 Vote to Launch in Two Phases

One of the biggest proposals and decisions that was made in the last two weeks, was whether or not to launch the TEC in one part or two. The Tech Spec working group and other contributors submitted a proposal to launch in two parts; instead of launching a bonding curve and conviction voting DAO directly after the hatch, the hatchers will vote on whether or not to launch a bonding curve and conviction voting DAO. This extra layer would primarily support better legal protection for participants, as well as give more time to developers to work on the design and implementation of the Gardens template — connecting the bonding curve to the conviction voting DAO.

The proposal was discussed in detail on the TEC forum and on the Soft Governance working group call:

Soft Governance Working Group call & Launch Proposal Discussion

The proposal Launching in 2 parts was approved with 14 votes in favor and one vote of “block” via the current decision making process, where a proposal passes if it has 85 percent or more of approval rate. In this first iteration, voting is currently held in the TEC-Voting Discord channel via emoji vote, but this process will evolve, and may in the near future, move to a more sophisticated process using Conviction Voting and Signaling Proposals.

🧮 Choose your own economy

Although the vote passed, it opened up a lot of dialogue around how these decisions could impact the community and the token economy, as well as continuing to improve the voting process itself.

But most importantly, building towards the hatch, there are still several very important questions that need attention and will be discussed over the next few weeks as we continue testing the hatch app:

Talking about hatch parameters doesn’t sound exciting, but what it means is that you get to have a say in how we build this economy together. The decisions we make could have huge impacts on your covestment, the amount we raise, how tokens are minted and affect the governance in a huge way. If you have a few minutes, share your thoughts and ideas in the forum — and not only does your voice matter, posting in the forum gets rewarded via TEC tokens too! 😉

📚 Exploring Ostrom’s 1st & 2nd Principles

For those interested in culture, the TEC has been exploring and developing research and implementations of Ostrom’s Principles in managing our cyber-physical commons (DAO). In this forum post, we look at the first two principles — rules and boundaries — within the context of the TEC. This work will be crucial in ensuring the boundaries of the community and in helping to avoid the “tragedy of the commons.”

If you are interested in this work, the Soft Governance group is actively working on this project to continue to build the framework and developing the processes which will eventually include all eight of Ostrom’s principles. 🗿 Spirit of the Commons

If you enjoy metanarratives, anime, memetics, philosophy and symbolism, you will LOVE the latest post on Tokens and Totems. Lead developer and TEC steward @Sem describes DAOs as a living force and a vision of commons and commonly held resources protected and represented by totems, stewards and economies behind them. We hope to integrate these ideas into our storytelling and sharing of ideas going forward, and weaving them into the fabric of our cyber-physical commons templates and library.

🎼 Music to DAO to

And last but not least, community members are sharing playlists and music to DAO to in this forum post Jammin’ in the Name of the Commons. Share your favorite tunes for work, play or relaxing, and see what vibes are fueling the TEC.

Without further adieu…

💎 Impact Hour Leaderboard

For participation, TE Commons community members and contributors are acknowledged via Commons Stack’s Praise Bot and then that Praise is quantified and converted into Impact Hours. Through Telegram and Discord bots and bridges, community members dish Praise to each other to recognize work.

Impact Hours will be converted into TEC tokens at launch. As voted on by the community, the intention is that each hour will be worth somewhere between $20-$200 of contributions covested into the Hatch 🐣.

Congratulations on the hard work everyone and thank you for your contributions to the Token Engineering Commons! 🥳

Here is the full list of Impact Hours awarded for work from November 6–20:

Every contribution counts, and the Token Engineering Commons is incredibly grateful for its 169 active contributors that have earned Praise so far. 🙏 Here is the list of total Impact Hours to date:
